Many artists prefer the idea of sketching pencils rather than painting or other forms of art. You might find some people who prefer to sketch pencils to prepare themselves for whatever artwork they will describe or color. In fact it is easier to make a three-dimensional drawing with a pencil sketch than to try to paint it on canvas or other material. By sketching your idea first, you can then fill in the details and thus make your creation look more real. You will use a method similar to what you learned but instead use the two-dimensional flat shape that you want to find in the three-dimensional dimension.
Don't try complicated objects when you first draw. Start with simple objects and then proceed in a more complicated way.
